Wed, 14 February 2007 More Rhodes/flute 'self-duet'. Again, this is Live in two 'layers' - first, the Rhodes, Live at EmmaJoe's in 2001, then the flute, Live at EmmaJoe's in 2002. This is Day's Dance (which, in fact, was my first number that night. If you want to know the actual chronology, it went: Day's Dance, January, Evening's Bells, and Morning Aire -- plus a couple that i haven't used in there somewhere. I don't know where the Masters are).
-
The two mellow numbers i used from this gig have already been posted in my Tranquil Music podcast. They are Tranquil MMVI.36 Evening's Bells, and MMVI.40 Morning Aire. If you'd like to re-assemble them into the order i put them on the Album, arrange them so:
January -
Morning Aire -
Day's Dance -
Evening's Bells.

Give me some feedback. Let me know what you'd like to hear. This is a new podcast which hasn't yet decided what it wants to be. Let me know what you think.

Wed, 7 February 2007 This is an Encore of a performance from EmmaJoe's about 4 years ago. It's totally different from what i've been putting up for these past 6 weeks. I had thought to let you hear what it really sounds like to play harp in a bar, with the room miked so you can hear the rowdy reality.
-
Except that about two-thirds of you have bailed from the subscription. Hmm. That's quite fickle. Okay; no more roomy recordings.
-
So, i'll switch gears, and (aside from avoiding roomy recordings from now on), i'll post some of my Live Rhodes/flute 'self-duet' stuff (which i've carefully produced to temper the harsh reality of playing Live in a noisy Coffeehouse; listen closely though and you'll hear the espresso grinder, the sink, the milk steamer, and a muted bang or crash here and there getting in through the flute mike). It is still definitely Live, even though i have to do these pieces in two 'layers' (as i've never figured out a way to play flute and piano at the same time). But it's still me playing both parts Live.
I played my Rhodes stage piano Live first (at an earlier gig) and then my flute Live at a gig about a year later. {I forget the exact dates offhand; maybe i'll find a copy of the CD i produced of it way back when.}

Please leave comments (and give me some feedback). It's an excellent feature which hardly anyone uses.
